Aster Power Coating is a fiber-reinforced coating developed by Aster Inc., a startup originating from the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo. Blended with specially engineered fibers boasting ten times the tensile strength of steel, this coating dramatically enhances the seismic and durability performance of buildings. It is designed to reinforce masonry structures vulnerable to earthquakes as well as aging concrete constructions, preventing peeling and spalling that traditional repair methods cannot address.
With its high adhesion and tensile strength, Aster Power Coating provides structural reinforcement simply by being applied to the surface. Backed by proven performance both in Japan and internationally, it is a trusted technology for protecting both buildings and lives—at a significantly lower cost than reconstruction.

■ Superior Adhesion: Prevents Peeling
Adhesion strength refers to how firmly the coating sticks to the surface. In preventing falling debris, ensuring that the coating remains adhered is crucial.
Aster Power Coating offers an adhesion strength of 1,100 kg per 100 cm².
For example, when a 10 cm × 10 cm × 100 cm concrete block (approx. 23 kg) is at risk of falling, applying Aster Power Coating around a 10 cm perimeter results in a total holding force of 29,700 kg. That’s 1,291 times stronger than the block’s own weight, effectively preventing it from falling.
■ Exceptional Tensile Strength: Prevents Tearing
Tensile strength measures the coating’s ability to resist breaking or tearing under tension.
The special fibers in Aster Power Coating provide ten times the tensile strength of steel, making the coating extremely resistant to tearing.
In the same scenario of a falling 10 cm × 10 cm × 100 cm concrete block, with a coating thickness of 1 mm, Aster Power Coating can withstand up to 2,500 kg (2.5 tons) of tensile force. Compared to the actual load of 23 kg, the coating resists tearing with over 108 times the required force.
