From “Knowing” GX to “Experiencing” GX — SAKIGAKE JAPAN Exhibits and Takes the Stage at TOKYO GX ACTION MUSEUM 2026

On July 25 and 26, 2026, SAKIGAKE JAPAN Corp. exhibited at TOKYO GX ACTION MUSEUM 2026, hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government at Tokyo Big Sight. On July 26, our Representative Director, Munetoshi Kondo, also took the stage at GX STAGE to present our off-grid cold chain initiative currently being developed in Indonesia.

A Large-Scale Experiential Event to Explore GX Through Everyday Life

TOKYO GX ACTION MUSEUM is an experiential event designed to communicate GX (Green Transformation) technologies and initiatives in an accessible way to the general public, toward achieving the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s goals of “Carbon Half by 2030” and “Zero Emission Tokyo by 2050.”

The venue was organized into five zones: GX LABGX DRIVEGX ART&FASHIONGX FOOD, and GX STAGE. Technologies and services related to GX were brought together from a wide range of fields, including manufacturing, materials, energy, mobility, fashion, and food.

Rather than viewing decarbonization as something associated with “restriction” or “obligation,” the event encouraged people to take action starting from their own interests and the things they enjoy. The entire venue served as a place where GX could move from knowledge to experience.

Exhibiting Special Thermal Storage Materials That Maintain Low Temperatures Without a Power Supply

SAKIGAKE JAPAN exhibited a cold chain technology that utilizes PCM (Phase Change Material), a special thermal storage material capable of maintaining sub-zero temperatures for more than four days even in environments without a power supply, together with highly insulated cold storage boxes.

We are currently developing an off-grid seafood cold chain for remote islands and coastal areas in Indonesia as a selected project under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “Global South GX Promotion Project.”

By integrally designing onboard cooling immediately after catch, storage on remote islands and coastal areas, re-cooling of PCM using solar power, and inland transportation using standard trucks, the system aims to maintain the freshness of seafood while reducing dependence on refrigerated trucks and diesel generators.

At the booth, we presented the actual special thermal storage materials and cold storage boxes, together with panels and video content illustrating the logistics model being envisioned for Indonesia.

Off-Grid Seafood Cold Chain Transportation System

The Off-Grid Seafood Cold Chain Transportation System being developed by SAKIGAKE JAPAN is an initiative aimed at decarbonizing seafood logistics and reducing food loss in unelectrified remote islands and coastal areas, including those in Indonesia.

By combining solar power generation, storage batteries, PCM (special cold-storage materials), highly insulated cold storage boxes, and mobile cold storage units, the system is designed to integrate the entire logistics process, from onboard cooling immediately after catch to storage on remote islands and coastal areas, and onward transportation to the mainland and markets. We are developing a sustainable cold chain while reducing dependence on commercial power supplies, diesel generators, and refrigerated trucks.

In addition to maintaining seafood freshness and reducing food loss during normal operations, the system is also being considered for future use as a regional cold storage hub during disasters. We aim to achieve both GX and regional resilience by implementing “cold infrastructure” that can support communities in both everyday situations and emergencies.

Integrating Everyday Logistics and Disaster Preparedness into One System

The goal of this system is not limited to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In regions where power infrastructure is insufficient, it can be difficult to keep seafood at appropriate temperatures after catch, leading to freshness deterioration, food loss, and reduced income for fishers. At the same time, during disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods, existing refrigerated and frozen logistics systems may become unavailable due to power outages, road disruptions, and fuel shortages.

During normal times, the system supports seafood logistics and contributes to reducing food loss and fuel consumption. During emergencies, it helps protect food at low temperatures for a certain period even when power supply is disrupted. Rather than treating these two functions separately, SAKIGAKE JAPAN views their integration into a single distributed infrastructure as the essence of “GX × Disaster Preparedness.”

Economic activity in everyday life can itself enhance a region’s disaster response capacity. This exhibition provided an opportunity to communicate, through actual products and technologies, the concepts of “Phase Free” and “distributed autonomy,” which SAKIGAKE JAPAN places great importance on.

Presenting Our Social Implementation Challenge on GX STAGE

On July 26, Representative Director Kondo took the stage at the TOKYO GX ACTION MUSEUM Zone Show Case, held at GX STAGE in West Hall 3 of Tokyo Big Sight.

The program featured notable GX initiatives from the “LAB,” “DRIVE,” “ART&FASHION,” and “FOOD” zones. Participating companies introduced their GX initiatives and highlighted key features of their exhibitions.

SAKIGAKE JAPAN presented the challenges surrounding the seafood cold chain being developed in Indonesia, the system combining solar power, storage batteries, PCM, and highly insulated cold storage boxes, and our concept of “GX × Disaster Preparedness,” which creates value in both normal times and emergencies.

Turning Technology into a “System That Continues to Be Used”

This exhibition and stage presentation provided an opportunity not only to introduce the technology itself, but also to explain in language closer to everyday life “why this technology is needed” and “how it can change local communities and industries.”

Even excellent environmental technologies will not lead to real GX unless they are introduced, used on a daily basis, and continuously operated within local communities. To achieve this, it is necessary to design systems that generate multiple forms of value simultaneously, including decarbonization effects, reduction of food loss, stabilization of logistics, creation of higher value in local industries, and resilience during disasters.

SAKIGAKE JAPAN will continue conducting field research and technical verification in Indonesia, working together with local stakeholders toward the construction of a cold chain system that can be practically operated on the ground.
