On May 29, 2026, SAKIGAKE JAPAN took part in “Intern Action Day 2026 ‘Spring,'” a student-focused event held at Kyushu University’s Ito Campus.
The event was hosted by QUSIS, and co-hosted by two Fukuoka-based venture capital firms (GxPartners and Beta Venture Capital) along with Fukuoka Growth Next (FGN). It was designed for university and graduate students.
For students wondering “What exactly is an internship in the first place?” or thinking “I’d like to consider working at a startup,” SAKIGAKE JAPAN would like to share what the day looked like.
Part 1: A Roundtable Discussion by Students with Internship Experience
The event opened with a talk session between students who had internship experience.
Speakers with internship experience at Beta Venture Capital and FGN discussed, drawing on their own experiences, topics such as “What is an internship?”, “How does an internship differ from a part-time job?”, and “What did they actually gain through their internships?”
Many students are familiar with the word “internship,” but still find it hard to picture exactly how it differs from a part-time job or what they would actually gain from it. Through the candid voices of fellow students who had already taken that step, this session — with the warm, conversational feel of a roundtable — helped ease the anxieties and questionsstudents have just before taking that first step themselves.
Part 2: Pitches by Participating Companies (3 Minutes × 7 Companies)
Next came a session in which participating companies introduced themselves and their internship opportunities. In a short three minutes per company, each presented their business, mission, the work interns would be doing, and the experience and skills interns could gain, using slides.
SAKIGAKE JAPAN also took the stage to introduce our company mission and the kind of work our interns are involved in.
It was a session in which each company’s individuality came through despite the short time limit, and we think it gave students an efficient way to compare, at a glance, which companies might align with their own interests.
Part 3: Booth Meetups (15 Minutes × 4 Rounds)
The event closed with booth-style meetups. In four 15-minute rounds, students interested in internships visited each company’s booth, with time set aside for more specific, one-on-one questions and conversation.
Being able to have conversations tailored to each individual’s interests — covering things like “how the work is actually carried out day-to-day,” “what the working atmosphere is like,” and “how to apply” that couldn’t be fully conveyed during the pitch — was, we felt, one of the particular strengths of the booth format.
