SAKIGAKE JAPAN Exhibits at the 5th Japan-Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction Seminar in Manila

On February 13, 2025, SAKIGAKE JAPAN participated as an exhibitor at the 5th Japan-Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction Cooperation Dialogue (Japan-Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction Seminar) held at The Bayleaf Hotel in Manila, Philippines. The event was organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT) and the Department of Public Works and Highways of the Philippines (DPWH) to facilitate technical exchanges on urban flood control and dam development and management.

The seminar featured presentations and discussions on the latest efforts in flood disaster prevention from both countries. Cutting-edge technologies, such as Japan’s hybrid dam technologyAI-driven flood forecasting, and real-time risk management using sensors, were introduced and received strong interest from the Philippine side.

Key topics covered in the seminar included:

✅ Current status and challenges in Metro Manila’s flood control (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority – MMDA)
✅ Japan’s urban flood control and latest technologies (Infrastructure Development Institute – IDI)
✅ Integrated water resource management in the Philippines (DPWH)
✅ Japan’s dam development and management initiatives (Japan Water Agency – JWA)
✅ Utilization of flood risk information and disaster education (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration – PAGASA)
✅ Japan’s flood risk management strategies (MLIT)

The seminar also featured a keynote speech by Mr. Shin Ishikawa, Cabinet Secretariat Counselor at MLIT.
