About Aquaignis Sendai
Aquaignis Sendai is a multi-faceted facility located in the Fujitsuka district, an area on the eastern coast of Sendai City that was severely impacted by the Great East Japan Earthquake. The facility was established with the aim of creating a new space where people could gather and heal, utilizing the area that had been designated for collective relocation post-disaster.
Aqua Ignis Sendai offers a unique combination of hot springs, dining, and agriculture, leveraging the rich natural environment to provide therapeutic experiences (“Toji”), fresh local cuisine, and promote local food production and consumption.The facility is dedicated to rebuilding the area and fostering community development, with the aim of making it a long-loved tourist destination.
About the Taiwan Lantern Festival
Held at Aquaignis Sendai, the Taiwan Lantern Festival was a vibrant event that brought color and light to Fujitsuka, an area symbolic of recovery from the 2011 earthquake. This festival not only strengthened cultural ties between Sendai and Taiwan but also served as a key initiative for local revitalization.
