About the Asia Berlin Summit in Tokyo

◆ Official website: Asia Berlin Summit in Tokyo

This event aims to build a “smart society” that goes beyond the realization of smart cities and super cities. In cooperation with Japanese companies such as Takenaka Corporation and the city of Berlin, known for its diversity and startup leadership, we will work together on a vision of Wellbeing architecture and the future we truly want to create.

Leading experts and pioneers from Japan and Germany will gather to discuss the possibilities and challenges of a “smart society” from the perspectives of urban development, transportation, environment, and culture. By combining knowledge and insights from both countries, we aim to create a clear vision of the society we aspire to build.

The event was held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at NEXs Tokyo (4th floor, New Tokyo Building, 3-3-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), marking the first time it has been held in a city other than Berlin.

Many experts in urban design and mobility, investors, and startups, including the mayor of Berlin, attended the event.

The theme of the event was “Next Smart Society,” and it featured a speech by the mayor, a panel discussion, a pitch session, and a networking party, making it a highly productive event.

What stood out was the seamless integration of startup innovation into Berlin’s urban design. Berlin is known as Europe’s leading startup hub, and the city’s vibrancy and forward-thinking nature were clearly evident.

Furthermore, decarbonization measures are receiving more attention than ever, and the technologies we introduced were met with great interest. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the sister city affiliation between Tokyo and Berlin. We look forward to expanding our presence in Berlin in the future.

We appreciate your continued support.
