SAKIGAKE JAPAN Corp. CEO, Munetoshi Kondoh, recently attended the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI) 2024 in New Delhi, India.

What is ICDRI 2024?

ICDRI2024 is a global gathering led by Prime Minister Modi of India, convening governments, organizations, institutions, media, and infrastructure professionals to discuss disaster-resilient infrastructure.

Scheduled for April 24-25 in New Delhi, this year’s conference theme is “Investing Today for a More Resilient Tomorrow,” aiming to establish a roadmap for disaster-resilient infrastructure investment.

The conference, hosting approximately 1,400 participants and 117 speakers from 42 countries, featured 20 sessions. Notable attendees included Mr. Abhas Jha from the World Bank and Dr. Abhilash Panda from UNDRR (United Nations Disaster Reduction Agency).

Insights from the conference highlighted the significant return on investment for climate change adaptation, with data suggesting that each dollar invested today could save 12 times its cost in the future. Community collaboration and innovative investment models are crucial for constructing resilient infrastructure, mitigating risks, and fostering sustainable development.

The evolving focus of climate change action from “mitigation” to “adaptation” was a key discussion point. While unable to participate as a panelist this time, we look forward to future opportunities.

The conference provided valuable insights and networking opportunities, contributing to the ongoing development of SAKIGAKE JAPAN Corp.’s disaster management business.

The conference was a very blessed opportunity for fresh perspectives and networking. we hope to continue to develop our disaster management business by building more knowledge and networking in the future.
