Japan is renowned for its numerous islands, ranking in the top 10 globally. Did you know that Nagasaki Prefecture claims the highest number of islands in Japan? This makes it a hub where transoceanic logistics play a pivotal role in the maritime industry.
At the gracious invitation of Mr. Goto, President of Cold Storage Japan, we embarked on a journey to the Goto Islands after a six-month hiatus. Our delegation included members of the local maritime community, fostering collaboration and mutual understanding.
Nagasaki Prefecture’s rich maritime history underscores the importance of overcoming challenges through cooperation. Our mobile refrigerated boxes represent a leap forward in logistics, seamlessly transporting produce from farms to markets across oceans. Beyond innovation, these boxes serve a dual purpose, envisioned as vital resources in emergency scenarios such as evacuation and disaster management.
Moreover, the Goto Islands embrace a culture of embracing new ventures. Over the past five years, approximately 1,000 individuals have relocated to the islands, signaling growth and opportunity. Our return visit provided an opportunity to reconnect with the local community, fostering deeper bonds.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the people of Goto for their warm hospitality and unwavering support.
In Japanese, the word “shipping [kaiun]” and the word “good luck [kaiun]” are pronounced the same. This is a so-called “pun,” but in general, Japanese people like this kind of good luck charm. And so do I 🙂
I hope that our challenge will lead us to success in the logistics connected across the sea.
