What is the Global Forum on Disaster Solutions (GFDS 2024)?
- The Global Forum on Disaster Reduction 2024 (GFDS 2024) is a worldwide platform dedicated to finding solutions for disasters. It fosters knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaborative efforts, all under the banner of “Uniting for a Safer Future.”
- The inaugural session took place at Indonesia’s prestigious Gadjah Mada University, focusing on the theme “Two Decades Post Aceh – Indonesia’s Tsunami and Earthquake.” The discussions centered on risk reduction and strengthening disaster preparedness.
- The program received sponsorship from the University of Tokyo, Japan’s premier university, and was conducted in partnership with the Industrial Science Foundation, aiming to bolster international disaster solutions.
More than 100 participants, including those joining online, attended the forum, representing countries such as Indonesia, China, Thailand, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, among others in Asia.
During our presentation, we shared insights into Japan’s current disaster management practices and outlined our future strategies, accompanied by specific technological advancements. This invaluable experience reinforced the adage that teaching is a profound form of learning, enriching our understanding.
For our company, the opportunity to present in English marked a significant achievement and provided motivation for our forthcoming endeavors. We remain committed to actively advancing our business and research efforts, aspiring to make meaningful contributions to the global community.
